embedded in a block of ice? with a temperature of 0.0 Celsius. If all the heat generated goes into the melting ice, what quantity of ice is melted?
Also given: Lf: 3.4 x 10^5 J/kg and Specific heat: 1.3 x 10 ^2 J/kg * Celsius.
 
m = 3E-3kg
v = 240m/s
M = mass of ice melted
specific heat is not necessary since there's no temp rise before melting

kinetic energy of bullet = fusion energy of ice

½mv² = ML

M = ½mv²/L = 2.5E-4kg
