...filter. The car wont crank.? so after i changed out my fuel pump and fuel filter my car stopped on me like it ran out of gas. After having my car towed to my house and adding gas to the tank because it was low. The car would crank slowly but wouldn't start. So we continued to crank it until we drained the battery. we later tried jumping it couple times nothing happened. still cranking with out starting. So i ran out to the store and picked up a new battery after putting it in and turning the key all the lights stay on and stay bright but the car is not cranking. i tried retightening the battery terminals and still nothing. no cranking or clicking

From the last time you asked...

turning over and cranking is the same thing. your saying it will turn over but won,t fire up? if the pump is,nt kicking on then it could be the pump relay. it still will turn over even if the pump was bad. if your saying it won,t even turn over then it could be the starter or battery terminals are dirty.

Maintenance & Repairs Don't know what car you have but if your "mechanic" friend came and told you it was the fuel pump and he banged on it with a hammer, that's a pretty good trick because most fuel pumps nowadays are INSIDE the gas tank.

Instead of letting your "mechanic" friend look at it and bang on things with a hammer, have a professional, real mechanic look at it, or take the bus.
