My DL was revoked years ago, I get my license back and I have a good car, a 99 civic ex with 105k miles. It has been sitting for awhile, i've started it and let it sit for a little bit about 5 or so times over the passed 3 years simply to get the engine moving to avoid parts from becoming brittle. But, I have not refilled the gas tank, so there is very old gas in it.
Last summer I tried to start the car and the battery was completely dead. I got a jump start, but the battery was at the end of its life anyway, and needed to be replaced. I let it run for about 5 minutes, then I gave it some gas and let it go up to about 6K RPMs, then it died. After that I couldn't get it restarted, so I just let it sit for another 8 months.
Last night I bought a brand new battery, got 6 gallons of fresh gas (on top of the quarter tank of old gas I already had). I filled the tank, installed the new battery, and BOOM, the engine fired after only a few turn overs. It sounded great, I let it run for about 5 minutes, and shut it off, it was getting late and I thought I would wait until the next day to give it another try. I went out this morning and again, it started right up. I checked all the electrical, turned the heater and rear defroster on, then slowly gave it gas. I held down the gas and let it sit at about 3K RPMs to get the old gas out of it, then I went big, back up to 6k RPMs like before, car dies and wont restart, AGAIN!
I think the engine is flooded. What can I do to get it started back up again?
