do i need to bleed the system, i had to replace the sterring pump, and don't think i'm bleeding right.

You should not have to bleed the system. You did not say if it was replaced with a new one or used. If it was a used one, try this. With the P/S fluid at the proper level, start the engine, turn the wheels fully both ways a few times, look in the reservoir, are there many bubbles? If so then let it sit for about 15-minutes or so with the engine off then try again. if it still does have bubbles in it it`s a bad used pump. if it was a new one that may not be what is making the noise. Use a LONG screw driver and put it on the pump, the to your ear to verify it. (unless you have a stethoscope, what I use) Is the steering wheel hard to move with the new pump? I would have liked a little more info on the condition before & after you replaced it, but i did the best I could with the info given, Good Luck!
