99 Ford Escort issues please help!?

Okay i've asked questions about my POS before i got a tune up and oil change but my car when im on the xpress way or anywhere where the speeds over 55 my car like will not let me accelerate like it jumps and you cant really push down the peddle. its inconsistent doesn't do it every time...It stalls at stop lights occasionally also inconsistent i dont know whats going on and im starting to not trust my mechanic soo if you have any idea whats going on please let me know
