'99 flhtci fuel leak...i need help!!

I just bought a 99 flhtci a couple of weeks ago. I noticed after riding it that my pants smelled like gas. Well, today I found the leak; it's I think the high pressure line at the bottom left side of the tank (there are two, so i assume one is high pressure and one is low pressure). I only noticed the leak when i pushed on the fitting and it squirted fuel out. Apparently it only happens when it's running also as there are no drips or anything in my garage. The local Harley shop said that since it's a 1999 and apparently only a one year fuel injection system, the parts would be hard to get. They found both lines at $200.00 a pop a piece; that's $400.00 for two fuel lines!!! Certainly there's a cheaper solution for this problem, i.e. some o-rings or something that could be replaced inside?? I haven't looked at it and can't right now to see if there are any serviceable parts inside; it's at the shop. I really don't have the money to fix it right now but REALLY want to ride since I just got it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh yeah, it's a 1999 so it's different system than most is what they told me.
Thanks, dabrogger

Look through the parts manual there maybe o-rings.....i dont remember...i may have the whole efi unit in the garage.....shoot me a pm and i will look...

It's a quick connect fitting. Make sure it's actually connected all the way, and the springy outside female part has 'snapped' back down completely.

to answer you question..on original harley lines....there is an O-ring as it enters the tank and the o-ring at the throttle body..those two are accessible on each but rarely have an issue...
There is an O-ring inside the swivel part that is NOT accessible once hose is assembled..basically the swivel section comes as two parts in the box..once snapped together you are unable to replace with-out breaking and destroying connection..I had considered obtaining a whole new swivel from a racing fuel line supplier and then cut line and attach but decided against it..it was going to save about 50% but was not worth it to me.

I am having the same problem with my 1997 FLHRI, except both lines are leaking, so I have just ordered them from J and P; however, someone mentioned changing an o-ring on the throttle bottom connection and extra clips. Where do I find these? I would like to pick them up before I indulge in the repair. I am thinking maybe I can pick these up at my local HD stealer or local shop. For a quick fix, though, plumber's tape does wonders and a close eye!

Dealer has the little bag with a bunch of o-rings for throttle body or you can just purchase the ones on throttle body..the bag i think was rather pricey for what it is..maybe $30 ??? but a few loose o-rings are about $2 or $3 dollars each at dealer...the two clips are cheap and about $1 or $2 each at dealer....OR you can obtain similar at Pep boys in the screw /bolt section or go to discount "advanced "autoparts and look at the "heres help" section..section with all the odd car parts and see if card with a bunch of brown o-rings match...they have the c-clips also....but dealer is not too harsh on the o-rings unless you get the kit.

email me at ([email protected]).. If its the fittings I used to be involved with its an easy fix and ill send you all the info.. If its the real early stuff I really cant help but we made fittings for the dial system also ..
