I have a 99 dodge ram 4x4 1500. i am having some trouble with it. when ever the gas tank gets under half a tank it starts sputtering and stalling as i make turns or while ideling. i have been told it could be fuel pump, as well as several other things. someone please help! i need to get my truck fixed.

Here's a few things to take note of No1 if you've ever driven that truck or the previous owners if any drove it low on gas that can cause problems bec moister , dirt etc would come from the bottom of the tank.

Another thing is if it's never really had the gas filter changed yrly that could cause problems. Also if the climate you live in has extreme cold or damp or hot temperatures that can affect moister etc in the tank too or simply if you've use at some time poor quality gas or gas with moister etc in it.

Then if you've not treated the fuel r ran fuel injector etc cleaners in it that could also cause sputtering etc too.

I'd start with the basics here check around for parts stores that sell fuel filters , even walmarts sell them at times quite cheap.Buy a couple of them they won't cost much if you look around and buy something like Lucas gas treatment or STP but change the filter first off then treat a full tank of gas.Once you run a few tanks through it change the gas filter again on it.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way even gas that sits in a gas tank awhile several months it then becomes weak or bad gas so keep that in mind if the vehicle did sit awhile.Another thing is you might be able to have a friend etc help you change the gas filter if they or you are handy with vehicles and there is a kit out for removing gas filters too quite cheap. But either way change it or make a flat rate deal with a shop supply the filter get them to simply change it for you.

Once you've tried treated the gas and fuel system changed the filter on and still the same problem you can get the gas pressure checked or request that they check the pressure when changing the filter on it.You can also buy a low costing gauge to test the gas pressure but I'd make sure I had a service manual to go by if I were you.
