8 inch lift, 37 inch tires, chipped, exhaust. what are some ways that i can talk the guy down without losing him, its the perfect pickup for me but its over priced what are some good ways to talk him down?

Unless it was a show truck and all the miles are from going to and from shows it's not a good idea to buy it. A vehicle with those mods is either a show truck or a play toy that has been put to the test and pushed to it's limits. You never mentioned the price to let viewers see how BAD the asking price is? And just so you know show truck don't typically have those kind of miles!

Argue mileage and how he would get nothing on a trade in. Also point out that most truck problems will occur around 100-120k and that you need the extra money to cover repairs that are inevitable. Stick to the gas mileage points, most dealers would not even accept that truck as a trade in.

Don't buy Dodge.
But that's okay, I'm not going to throw my opinions out there.

Go meet up with him Look for scratches on the side of the truck, run your fingers over them and really look at them, make sure he sees you.

Mess with anything in or on the truck that isn't perfectly working.
Pull the dipstick out for the oil and look at the color.

Bring the KBB value print out with you...
Show him that it is in good condition, and what the KBB value is on it.

Tell him "I know you've put a lot of money into this car, and you've really taken care of it. This is what it is worth in the market, and I know all of the extras cost you a lot. I know this economy sucks, nobody has any money, and it's so hard to sell right now. THIS IS HOW MUCH I HAVE" Don't tell him how much you have, and how much you really would like to pay for it, figure out a fair price, and say, "I've put together all my money, and this is how much I have. I don't want to offend you, and if you would like to think about it, and then call me, that's fine. I've got cash, and this is what I've got" Let him sit on a real offer, he'll call you.

I just bought a 00 Chevy Silverado 1500 V8 5.3 L 3 inch lift, performance exhaust, edelbrock headers, alpine sounds system, XM radio, mud tires, rims, bed liner, tool box, power everything. The trucks is worth over $13,000, I gave him $4500.

Hmm well i would like to help you...but there is one problem you did not put the price of the car that he asked for. So ill help you in a different way. I just bought a car (2 months ago). 2004 Ford Focus ZX3 (its kind of a sports carish). with 38k miles. Its like brand new inside and smells and looks all pretty. I got it from an older guy and he asked for $5,500 and that's what he got. So if the guy is asking for way more than what i got my car you need to tell him first of all- 1)miles 100k that is a lot for a car....the higher the mileage is the worst...that's what they say. 2) 1999 that is a nine almost ten year old car.....cars that old should not be expensive and that's it!.....well i hope that in some way i helped you out....
