99 Acura 3.2 TL -- check engine light flashing?

Wife called from work, said her check engine light came on during her drive. It's flashing, not just on. Does that indicate a more severe issue? If it just came on I'd tell her to drive it somewhere to have the code checked, but with the flashing I'm hesitant.
 
it is still safe to drive. i heard about this problem on the car doctor radio show last week. it has something to do with spark plugs. get it scanned at a repair shop and they can correct the problem.
 
A flashing check engine light is more severe than it staying on. It presents a more urgent issue. Driving it to a mechanic should be okay, just tell her to drive easy on the car. (don't hit the gas too hard, or be reckless).
