98 Lexus ES300 alarm goes off when the trunk is opened using the ignition key instead...

...of remote opener.? This is a recent change in behavior. About 2 months ago I repaired broken wires in the trunk harness that had disabled the license plate light and the trunk release. Is it possible that another wire is broken that is causing the alarm to sound if I use the key to open the trunk while the alarm is still active?
 
my lady friends has done the same thing, its an electrical issue lexus has been having for years in the beginning. its a common problem to have quirks like this on older models
 
Yes there is a good chance you have more broken wires or have crossed the wires you have worked on. Double check all wires and ground connections.
