(Battery clamps are tight, no corrosion, no lights were left on)

Alright, so when I was leaving work yesterday I got in the Accord, and put key in ignition..clicking noise came about like the battery is dead. Then after trying a couple more times I gave up. Strange thing was all of my in-dash electronics were working. Radio, and my interior under dash lights. Air conditioner, the whole sha-bang. Then out of blind luck, the car starts when I just try it one more time.

I drive home, drives fine, except when I'm in 2nd gear, (It's a manual tranny) it makes a odd faint but high pitched humming sound. Then I get home, and go inside.. Come back out to check it after about 10 minutes and it starts up fine. Humming noise is still there in 2nd gear. Then drive around the block, pull in the drive way, shut the car off. No interior electronics work, not even the windows, which directly after shutting my car off they usually do work, along with the locking/unlocking mechanism. I manually unlock the car door, open it, and the custom alarm that was installed starts going through its cycle. It goes through its cycle and WILL NOT STOP. I f**ked around with the ignition after closing the door, and after random attempts of holding the break, pressing the clutch and turning the key the alarm stops. Then try and open the door again, same thing. BTW car will not start at all during this time. I'm pretty sure the alarm is wired into the ignition so if it goes off the car won't start. I cut the hot wire for the alarm after I got out so I and my neighbors didn't have to hear that annoying ass alarm. But now I'm stuck with a car that will not start.

Also, the neon interior lights are wired correctly. I used the hot/power wire for my aftermarket JVS car radio to wire them up. I also have a simple on/off switch so they are not on all the time.. So I don't think it is the neons that are causing the problem. No other aftermarket items are installed in the car. Its a '98 Honda Accord EX 4 dr. incase anyone missed that.

You've got a short! just that simple. You don't have to have everything going or leave something electrical on. You need a real intervention with a VAT or shop scope that will bring this out in the open so that you can repair this thing. Electrical problems can be intermittent or continuous. Then once your mind is at ease you'll rest better.
