9700 19.99 bis question

i dont think im getting 3G speeds! Here is my tether speedtest. Anyone else do this test? I had a tmobile cs rep tell me that the 19.99 grandfather plan is not 3G. Others said it is. I dont know what to believe anymore

I also just got off the phone with a T-Mobile rep, the 2nd one. who states my current $19.99 plan will work with the 3G network and I will have visual voicemail. So I guess time will tell once my phones arrives. I was told once I had an unlimited internet package it will work just fine.

T-Mo is simply trying to use this as an excuse to "bump" everyone up to the next most expensive data plan.

Mine works as it supposed to on the $19.99 plan, here is how I did it.

Get on the phone (not in the store) and call customer service, ask for a supervisor, be prepared to wait.

Be patient, courteous, tell them you like T-Mo (do not threaten to switch carriers) and surely there must be a simple mistake.

The super will then be eager to help you as they hardly ever get courteous patient customers.

It worked for me it will work for you.

I was told I could keep my grandfathered plan, but if you bought it in the store you had they would change the plan price on you to get the phone from them, but if you call customer retention they could change it back to your $19.99 plan. We are not getting 3G on our phones here, but that's because it's not here yet. Hopefully the 3G will work and the $19.99 plan will work. Wish they would do a family Blackberry data plan.

I'll take a screenshot for you later of my acct plan and of my phone's home screen. BIS is BIS. They have a reason to smoke you, we don't.

Do you have the 3G icon in upper right hand corner next to the bars? If no 3G icon then better chances are you are not in a 3G zone. Despite Tmo's coverage map, there are quite a few holes in real life.

at work, but here's a screen shot off my PC of account and used 'captureit' to screenshot the berry. I've been grandfathering over the unlim msg plan and the bb plan.

i'll run tether speed tests after my new netbook arrives.

Google speed test for blackberry and run the test on phone, that will sure tell you better.
Tmo changed my plan to the 25 one, but I got the activation fee waived and they added 800 text messages to my plan at no charge

I got my phone yesterday, as mentioned I didn't have to change my plan and I have 3G and visual voicemail. I don't see how/why some CSR's are telling ppl to upgrade their plan. Unless all depends on your location? I'm in Fort Lauderdale, Fl.

All this back and forth with T-Mobile plans reminds me of the SNL skit they had with Obama and the chinese president. I think T-Mobile is "trying to make sex with us" lol. All of this for an upgrade to 3G? Really?

I had a 8320 which was acting up for the past week. I called up CS and asked for some technical support for it. We ended up talking about the 9700 for a few mins and since the tech wasn't able to fix my service books problem, she asked me if I woud be interested in a full upgrade...I told her that I still had 6 more months left and she said that they will wave the 6 months. For a price of $199.99 I jumped at the offer. She made notes on my account. I went to the nearest corporate store and told them I wanted to upgrade my phone. The sales person pulled up my account and there it was, the notation of the upgrade.

So to make a long story short, this morning, I checked my account on the website and there I saw I was taken off the blackberry add on service for $19.99 and was being charge the new rate of $24.99 for the "unlimited internet" service. I called CS a few mins ago and I asked why the add on was replaced with the unlimited. I told the person that I have had the add on service for over 3 yrs and why was I not told for the switch by the salesperson..the agent was able to reverse the charge and give me back the "add on" service since I have been "grandfathered" in with it.

So moral of the story kids is, check your account on line and question everything after and upgrade. I got charged $18.00 for the upgrade which blows but the service on my 9700 was changed without my knowledge.
