There's a 97 pontiac for sale $450 with only 110K
but salvage titled. The left side of the back door
is dented. The seller said the "motor mount" or
something like that needed to be replaced (abt
$20 bucks each). I saw some water dripping out
of the bottom but it's not oil. No liscense plate
coz he bought the car at the whatever place
that is. You think I should buy the car? Coz I'm
only gonna be driving it until December so
smog test shouldn't be an issue (he said I can
renew it for 3 times and it only costs $25 to
renew it) Can I still get insured if I don't take
the smog test and keep on renewing it til Dec?
Thanks so much I dont wanna be ripped off
and deal with the troubles. !!
Btw, will the insurance cost a lot coz it's salvage? I'm currently paying 600 a year for my 98 toyota...how much do u think they'll charge me with this 97 pontiac?

I smell a rat with this car --- or I should say, "a lemon". You have shared quite a few red flags already with this car, so even if you only plan to drive it for a few months, you may still have more problems than it is worth --- for example, doing everything it takes to make it street legal. And on top of that, what do you think will happen when you try to sell it to someone else? Most people --- no matter how cheap the asking price --- will step anywhere near a salvage title car, and I don't blame them one bit!

Happy shopping...

If it starts it is not a scam, it;s cheap car with known and unknown problems.
If it blows up on the way home it is your problem not his.

Nope, not a scam.

It's about how much a 13 year old broken down junk with a salvaged title is worth.

If you're desperate to buy cheap cars, look for 80s Hondas for $500-$1000. They may actually last longer than a week after you purchase it.

Don't get involved - it's more headache than the car is worth. Besides, your Toyota is most likely in a better shape that this 97 Pontiac.
