97 Honda CR-V back seats alternative way to retract?

For those who know, they made this car have this pullup thing in order to bring down/move back the seats. I dunno what they were thinking but I assume it was a good idea back then. For some reason the PLASTIC thing broke and now there's no visible way to move the seat (the other one is fine). Does anyone know what I should do? Is there another way to get this seat to move without the obvious plastic thing?

Or...is there a way to melt plastic together? HAHA!
