96 Mazda Protege, not pulling codes, new trans, clean fuel injectors, still

stalling out. Can anyone help? Hey there,
And thanks in advance for reading. My significant other was really kind, and generous in helping me find a new car. He chose a 96 Mazda Protégé for me. He is more trusting than I, and believed the seller that it had never been in any accidents, and had slight trans problems. The day after we looked at it, the trans went out. So, he offered us a discount - if we put half down, his “guy” would put a newer, used one in. and he (sloppily) did. Later, I found that this gem of a car not only had been in accidents, a crap trans, and a shot interior - but it leaked oil, everywhere. So, after much effort and money most of the leaks have been resolved. Oh, did I mention the new alignment, fuel pump, tires and other music costs? Later, this “newer” trans was slipping, badly. After taking it to local shops - paying for “diagnostics”, only to be told that my car was fine…my trans blew. Despite my wanting to scrap it - My boyfriend reassured me that it is better to fix a car when you know it’s problems, than to risk buying another set of problems in another car. Good logic? Sounded like it at the time. Well, now my trans is fixed, but the vehicle has a knack for stalling out. _____________________________________________________________________________________
I am hoping - no, praying that someone on this earth can help me for once. I have now paid for 2 diagnostics, none of which pulled codes, or gave me answers. Here is what is happening. The car runs fin, until everything warms up after 5 or so miles. Then, if I reverse, or park (while idling/hardly pressing the gas) it dies. Also, I hear a rattling (may be a ping?) only after I am warmed up, and accelerating. I have put dry gas/fuel injector cleaner combos in it twice no, with no success. All of my fluids are topped off and clean, and I have tightened all of my sparkplugs. I would take it In to a shop, but most everyone just says “Well our diagnostic/service charge is $XX.xx, but I can’t guarantee you answer - and it is non refundable” Since I have already done that twice, I don’t want to pay $50-$100 to continue wondering what the hell is wrong with this foreign mind-trap. Is there any one out there, in the Oakland/Macomb country area that knows a place that does free estimates, or won’t charge me if they can’t figure out my problem? Maybe just some advice/suggestions on what may be causing me to die out like this? I am a college student who lives on her own - not a live of the parents and party kid- So your thrifty help and advice is highly appreciated. Thanks , and have a good day.

Sincerely,
The not-so proud owner of a 96 Protege
in Oakland County, Mi
