96 ford taurus alternator?

While drive lights dimmed ..engine stopped got it jumped and home was lucjy was around the corner from home because it stopped again. Replaced alternator. Battery wouldnt charge. Charged battery car runs but new alternator wont put out voltage . Returned Alternator got new one installed checked voltage going to alternator checked continuity on sense wire (white and Brown) that is closed pulled wire Yellow off eyelet start car.. no voltage comes out of alternator but i have voltage going to it and it slowly drains battery Is this just a bad batch of alternator or am i missing something
