96 chevy blazer only starts if I put gas in carb first?

Have a 6 cylinder chevy blazer it runs great as long as I put gas in the carb first to start it not sure what to check. fuel pump seems to work changed fuel filter. been going on for almost a year now
Would not replacing the thermostat have anything to do with it not starting.
 
it could be the wiring for the carb injectors or the ECU is not telling them to work in Open loop. does it start after it's warmed up if so you have a Open loop problem.

That means before the O2 sensors chime in and adjust your air fuel mix the ECU goes off a predetermined mixture but it isn't telling your carb that.
