95 Honda Civic, Air Conditioning Noise @ idle?

hi all, any suggestions would be much appreciated.
I own a 95 honda civic 2dr hatch. My air con functions quite okay, the problem is the noise. At idle+air con on, the revs drop to approx 600rpm from the usual ~1000rpm. At this point an unusually loud clicking noise can be heard from the air con unit under the hood(rather embarassing at lights, busy streets). As soon as revs >1000rpm, all is well again. It is a metallic noise, and is constant regardless of air con settings. It only occurs on cold air also. Could somebody point me in the right direction? i cant find this problem anywhere online...
Kind regards

It is the clutch on the a/c compressor. How do I know this? because I just replaced a compressor on a 2003 trailblazer today that was doing the exact same thing.

Get a new a/c compressor and serpentine belt to go along with it. A shop is going to charge you around $800+ for it.

Or you can bring it to me for $500.
