95 dodge neon died after i turned heater on could that be because?

Our 95 dodge neon just had a new timing belt and water pump put in. It started running but then when we switched the heater on the car died... could that be because its got a bent valve or what not. The car still turns over and wants to start but its not. If you know what may be wrong with this please help me out. Thanks
 
Maybe the water pump seized when the heater core valve opened. Was there a lot of gunk in the cooling system?
