My 95 LeBaron downshifts itself when I slow down or stop or when it feels like it, and wont come out of what feels like 2nd gear. It used to work again if i shut it off and start it again. It doesnt do it if its cool. Any ideas what Im dealing with???

Transaxle is going into limp in mode, caused by a fault detected by the trans control module (TCM). Unfortunately you must have the codes extracted from the TCM by a compatible scanner, they will give you diagnostic information that can lead to the cause. Speed sensors cause the majority of the electrical failures, but the trans will go into limp in mode for a number of faults, many include internal problems, which can get expensive.
