94 RF 600 wont start

Well i have a 94 rf600 and one day it just would not start or even run at idle speed. Now i was told to change the spark plugs cause i might have fowled them out so i did that. Well after changing the spark plugs the bike fired right up so i let it run for a few min and shut the bike back off and began bolting the tank back on to complete the job. So all put together now and i tried starting the bike and it would not start again just like before i changed the plugs. Any one got anything that could help and i have not had any problems with this bike for about a month till i parked it for a week when it was raining??

Fuel, air, spark.......YOU are going to have to see which one is not present 'cause we can't do that for you.

I think you should check the plugs again to see if they are wet with gas.
That could mean a float-bowl-needle-valve not closing.

If the plugs are wet with gas, then yes, it is flooding.

And I don't know.........how many carbs DOES it have ???

(I think I'm getting too old for this......... )

well im sure it has 4 carbs on it but im checkin into the fuel pump next but cant find a web site that sells them or a link to a web site!!

I would check your carbs before replacing anything. Are you getting any smoke or anything from the pipes? If so, you could be running on a very rich running condition, which could foul out your plugs very quickly. Make sure nothing is restricting airflow, i.e. Air filter, any hoses to the carbs, things like that.

Ok well i finally runnning but after i hooked up the battery charger to it, it only does this clicking noise now but the battery charger says the batter if fully charged??

That might be your problem right there. How long has it been since you replaced the battery? A battery with dead cells will still read charged. The stator system on a motorcycle isn't quite as efficient as an alternator on a car, so a fully charged battery is just as important in running the bike as it is in starting it. If your battery is dead, your bike won't run right, if at all. I had the same problem on my 82 Virago. That stator on that bike wouldn't even start producing enough power to spark on its own until 2500rpms, so if the battery was dead, you couldn't even push start it!

If its not the battery, then its probably your starter solenoid. However, it sounds to me like you've got yourself a dead battery. Replace the battery and let us know what happens!

Well if the battery was bad would it still let the bike crank like it was trying to start?? But a friend of mine is going to bring a battery tester to me today so i can check it see if its good or not!

Are you trying to confuse us on purpose ??
If so, you are doing an excellent job.

Does it turn over as fast as it would normally......???? OR does it just click when you push the start button....??? OR when and what is actually clicking ??

Cranking SPEED is important; if the cranking speed is slow, then the battery is going bad.

:plus1:Agreed. Get your ducks in a row, man. We can't help you if you can't describe exactly what the bike is doing. Get descriptive and maybe we can get problem solved!

OK sorry im not good at this but the cranking speed is at normal speed. but like i said the more i cranked on it to restart the bike after trying to get the idle set the battery started to drag a bit so i decided to charge it and thats when the clicking noise started(after i hooked up the battery charger for about and hour)

Well, let's see........what possible answer for that.......

MAYBE.....if it wasn't making that noise BEFORE....AND the starter still is turning over rapidly like normal........

Could it be that the FUEL PUMP is broken ????

P.S. The fuel pump normally clicks a few times and stops when it builds up pressure. Are you SURE you have gas in the tank??? Having no gas to pump is one thing that will cause it to continue to click away.

Ok, enough.

It is NOT the fuel pump making the clicking noise; at this point, I even doubt that your bike HAS a fuel pump.

The clicking noise is coming from the solenoid (sometimes called "starter relay")and there isn't enough voltage coming from the battery to run the starter. It only makes this clicking noise when you push the start button, right ?? That detail is important.

There is a 99% probability that you have a worn out battery OR a bad connection on one of the main battery cables at one end or the other.

When asking for help, DETAILS are important.......like including the fact that the bike is NOT TURNING OVER anymore when you mention something like a clicking noise. :fight2:

I quit; I have a headache. :madd:

A 1994 RF600 does have a fuel pump. I know this because I own one myself. I am having the no start problem myself I know I am getting fuel(unhooked fuel hose and hit starter button and got showered witn fuel when pump started motor has to be turhing over for it to work.). I have a new AGM battery in it. Has always been hard to start on first start after sitting. Now it pops like it is trying to start then nothing. I stop cranking and try again it will backfire out the exhaust.
