i just had the clutch replaced and one of the same problems i had prior to the clutch replacement still occurs, which is when i put my car in reverse it still crackles/grinds(sometimes) and it hops/bounces(a lot) just as i let off the clutch as i give it little gas. right now i can't imagine not "riding" the clutch in reverse due to it jolting back(i know that "riding" the clutch is not good but i can't risk running into something/someone when my car does this!). lately i've been questioning the rapid decrease of the RPMs just as i disengage a gear into another gear or completely disengaging into neutral and for some reason i'm guessing it may be the IAC? my few questions will be: is it normal for the RPMS to fall quick as you're disengaging/engaging into another gear? is there a solution to the hoping in reverse? and an off subject question: why does my a/c not blow hot air when i put it all the way to red? thank you for the answers, all appreciated!

The Idle Air Control Valve wouldn't cause the RPM's to drop quickly just cause you put the car in neutral or switched gears. If your IACV had a problem you'd know because when at a stop and idling your RPM's will bounce and act erratically depending on how bad it is and it will feel like the car is about to die (Disconnect the electrical plug on the IACV and you'll notice a huge difference lol, if you want to experiment). The RPM dropping is normal, the cars in that generation have only a 19lb flywheel (I weighed mine) so you can't expect the best shifts ever.

I'm just guessing but your new to stick shift, specifically Hondas? In those Honda models you have to put the car into a gear then go to reverse, i.e. 1 to R, 2 to R, etc...If you go straight to reverse from neutral it will cause grinding. It's just the way those transmissions are and it is normal.

The "hoping/bounce" sound more like your just not balancing the clutch and gas properly, and sounds like you need to give the car a bit more gas. My 1995 does the same when I don't give it enough gas, the tranny will want to go then go quiet as if it's trying to go but it can't-if that made sense.

To me it just sounds like problems brought on by the driver, but I could be wrong, I mean, I'm not the one there so...

As for the A/C, I suggest you just take it in to get looked at. The A/C is actually pretty complicated and I wouldn't recommend messing with it. For me, that's the only part of a car I won't mess with.

Did you replace the clutch yourself or did you have somebody else do it? And if so what kind of clutch is it? Hydraulic or cable? Generally if you replace a clutch as an upgrade or with something aftermarket, it's a good idea to adjust the pedal and play. The problems associated with hopping in reverse might come from bad synchros or throwout bearings (If they weren't replaced).

The rapid fall in RPMs is normal if you have a light flywheel. You'll just have to adjust your driving habits. That's all.

The AC might not have any coolant in the system. This means there's either a leak or it's been taken out. Do you hear the compressor clutch engaging when you turn the AC on? Maybe it's the compressor itself? If you want AC you're gona hafta goto a shop for that one. They have the equipment to handle that kind of repair.

Most of the problems you seem to be encountering sound like symptoms of performance mods. Makes me wonder if your the original owner. Good luck.
