94 honda accord lx coupe dashboard lights!?

i just purchased the car but at nighttime i noticed the dashboard lights do not work. what should i buy/do? i am a girl so could you give me some simple instructions. i don't want to get ripped off going to an auto shop. also the automatic transmission got replaced in 08 (thank GOD) but in the first two gears it kinda does not shift smoothly so what can i buy/do for that or is that normal!
 
its a foreign car not to be offensive but i like american cars better you could just buy the parts
