So my car was involved in a rear-end accident this weekend. Some genius decided that his dodge pickup truck was going to meet my back bumper on my car at a complete stop. His insurance company is Allstate, and they are considering my car a total loss (due to it's age I suppose, the engine's fine). Any ideas how much I'll be getting back from this insurance company? I keep being told I'll get the actual cash value, but I am confused as to exactly what that is. Do I go by the kbb prices for suggested retail, or what? I live in RI, and it's where the accident took place. I'm honestly hoping it's enough to purchase a replacement so that I have a decent mode of transportation for my work/school/appointments commute. Any experience with a similar situation would definitely be appreciated!
