Lots of stuff wrong, but first I have a weird curiosity question, and then if you guys want to stick with me on this post, I will ask more....I'll be on here for quite awhile today and tomorrow.
My exhaust manifold glows red hot. I know there are much more important questions about this (I'll get to them, I promise), but I'm wondering if it is at all possible if that manifold being so hot could blow my AC unit. After smelling a very light rubber burning smell the AC went out...later that night I saw the pretty *smirk* color of the manifold. If so, could you explain what part might have melted ie gasket ect...
Stay tuned...thank you guys/gals
Ok, here is more info: No hose is melted on the compressor. Wondering if something internal may have melted.
Yes, I do know about how the manifold works, and I have maintained the car well. All problems started when my boyfriend began commuting to work and didn't "have time" to get minor things fixed before they turned major.
Last night he couldn't get it to go more then 50 mph and sometimes not even 10. No OD either. After letting it sit, it would run okay, but still not over 50, and then would start to slow down. He continued to drive it against my wishes. It didn't over heat the motor, though the gauge rose a wee bit over normal. It didn't throw any codes; think that might be due to a worn key.
The fuel pump may indeed be part of the issue. He ran it dry several times. It would die when driving but could be started again in neutral. Got better/worse, then stopped acting up altogether.
Could the o2 sensor be part of it as well, or is this a tranny problem/combo?
