I have a 9242 and my phone service is Skype.

I have a phone adapter that let me use "normal" phones with skype.

Can I setup the 9242 to dial a prefix and postfix? for example to call 1-888-123-1234 I must dial 001-888-123-1234*

I see a prefix message but no postfix.

If you plug in the phone line will the Caller ID show up and can I turnoff the outgoing calls if I cannot postfix the number?

Has your 9242 given you problems since it can't dial out?

I would call bell and tell them the problem. They can authorize your receiver to work without a phone line.
Then it you want PPV, you can order online or on the phone, but not from your reciever.
Then you won't get error messages saying receiver needs a phone line.

No my 9242 has never given me problems with the not dialing out. But I want ti caller ID to come up on the screen so the phone line will still be pluged in. Can I turn off the dial out function?

you can't turn off the dial out function, Bell can. And that disables ordering PPV from the receiver.
I wouldn't expect caller id to work with Skype. Everytime someone calls me with skype, it shows a local re-direct number.

Caller id will work with Skype if it is set up through your account settings at their web site.
