i know i have some lifter or valve clicking i noticed that about a week ago but now there is a hard clicking noise coming from somewhere down near the oil pan it just started today it was working fine in the morning now is loud and not fun to be in when the noise is there it has the 4.0 with 176,000 but might be over 200,000 because the speedometer and odometer did not work before i bought it..

it is possible that you have rod bearing that has slack in it making your noise. you can remove your oil pan and check your bearings by trying to move them up and down and side to side movement from front to back is ok. you may have to rotate your engine to get to all of the rod bearings. any signs of metal is obviously a sign of a problem. also check your oil pressure and make sure it is within specs. i would say around 30-40 psi should be normal but you can check a repair manual for the exact numbers.
