92 Honda Civic thunk noise when turning up a curb?

I have a 1992 Honda Civic with 70,000 km.

Earlier in the week I noticed a thunk noise every time I hit the breaks, or ran over a bump in the road. I decided to take it to the car wash in case there was a rock or something stuck in there. Afterwards, the noise went away when I hit the breaks or go over a bump.

However, every time I make a left turn and hit a curb (to go in my drive way) I hear the noise. It sounds like it's coming from one of the tires, or within the centre of the car.

What would cause the noise?

Just guessing but it sounds like even though your trunk is latching, there is still enough play in the linkage that is causing the noise. For a quick first fix, I would spray some WD40 on the trunk mounting hinges. When the trunk is open, try to wiggle it while standing next to it and see if you can hear the noise. Pinpoint that and you will probably find your problem. Could be something loose, or something that just needs a little oil. Hope this helps.
