92 Dodge Dakota 4x4 issues?

Got a bit of an issue on this one. Running a 5.2l v8 and I can get the thing started, and it'll idle and stay running for a while, but the second I give it any gas, it dies once I lay off the throttle. I suspected the alternator, but I got that tested and it passed. Can anyone think of any other reasons it might be doing this?

You could have a loose throttle link; possibly your idle control is going bad. It's not going to be your alternator, it'll be in the fuel delivery system. Take it to your local parts store and ask to use their diagnostic computer. Your onboard computer will tell it if you have any bad codes popping up.

Start there, then buy your best grease-monkey friend a six-pack and let him go to work.

a bad throttle position sensor will cause this to happen also ,it helps to regulate the amount of fuel the truck gets and if its not registering right it will not allow the fuel pump to give it enough fuel to stay running, scan the computer and see what codes you get from it,good luck.
