I have been suffering from sever pain under my left ribcage. The pain comes and goes in like 4 different types. The first type of pain is when I sit straight up in a chair, it feels like I am squeezing my stomach. The only way to relieve this is lean back or lay down on my back. When I do, the pain will eventually go away every time. If I am in a situation where I can not lean back while sitting, or have to stand for a long periods of time, the pain will get very bad, and when I push on the area it feels very bloated. It also feels like I am pushing on an air bubble under my skin. It hurts when I push the bloated area and feels like my stomach is being squeezed. But like I said before, after I lean back or lay on my back the pain will subside. If I eat while the pain is very severe, and the bloating is bad, I always pay badly for it. If I eat greasy foods especially. But it will mostly hurt regardless after anything ate. After I eat I feel great for about 45 minutes to an hour. The bloating feeling actually goes away. Then the pain starts. It feels like my stomach is flared up and I will have severe back pain in the same spot every time. The back pain is directly behind my stomach. The back pain will last as long as my stomach is flared up, which could be from 2 hours to 9 hours. I drink maalox all the time. it makes the pain better but it almost seems to make the flare ups last longer. The only thing I can do to get relief is to go home and lay down on my back. This will always work, sometimes faster than other times, depending on how bad my stomach is flared up. My stomach has flared up for more than 4 horrible days before. This was after a weekend of heavy drinking. I have since STOPPED DRINKING ALCOHOL and my stomach is better but it still gets flared up about 2 times a week. I have noticed that smaller portion meals do help with the flare ups, and then sometimes they dont. I also have 3 other kinds of pain that I associate with my stomach issue. The third is keeping me from sleeping flat on my stomach. When I do, it feels like I am laying with my fist under me in front of my stomach. It's more of a annoyance more than a pain. Just feels very uncomfortable. The third pain is a pain I get when I bend my back backwards and push my stomach out as far as I can. When I do this it feels like I am pulling on my stomach itself, and its very weird. It kinda feels like I am pulling on a muscle that has not been stretched in a long time. My stomach feels stiff. The fourth pain I have is sometimes the area in front of my stomach will tingle as if you were rubbing your finger nail over your leg while wearing a pair of paints. It's a strange feeling but again more than an uncomfortable feeling than anything. I am sure that all of these weird symptoms tie into my flair ups some how. So of course I have went to a gastro doctor. I have explained the symptoms over and over and over again and went through the following test: 3 endoscopy, sonogram over the gall bladder area, ct scan with contrast, hida scan, stool test for fats, blood tests, and I just recently had a test where I swallowed a small camera inside a capsule. After all these test my doctor has called me a medical mystery. He can not find a problem that would cause pain where I describe it. No ulcers, no hiatle hernia's, no irregular gall bladder function. My hida scan actually shows that my gall bladder is functioning at like 85%. My doc is puzzled. He has told me to take prilosec but it seems to make my flair ups happen more often, so I stopped. The doc did say that the capsule test and the ct scan shown scaring in my lower intestines and it could be crones disease. He has ordered blood test and a colonoscopy which I have not done yet. But my doc will admit that a lower intestinal problem would not cause symptoms I am having, especially since he see's no signs of scaring in my stomach or upper intestines. I also do not have any of the crones symptoms other than flare ups. One other thing was found during my first endoscopy. The doc found what he calls a nodule in my stomach. It was tested for cancer with an endoscopic ultrasound and thankfully to God,it came back negative. A year later I had another endoscopic ultrasound and they say that the noduel has shrunk. The docs have also always said that this nodule in my stomach is not whats causing my pain and flair ups. I am just so confused and so scared. This has totally changed my life in a very bad way. I really dont have a life anymore. I work and then I go home and sleep. Usually with pain mixed in. I have thought it could be a bunch of things. Gall bladder, stomach muscle tear, hiatle hernia, I just have no idea anymore. Does anyone have any ideas or advice or any info??? Has anyone out there had these symptoms??? Can anyone help???? This has been going on for 2 years and I hope and pray that it can be resolved some day very soon.

OMG! Me too, I have the same exact thing, same symptoms, same everything. It happened to me today, actually, while I was in class and I wanted to cry all day ):

Hey thanks for your replay. Since I last posted this I have went to another Gastro doctor and feel a lot better thank God!!!! This new doctor prescribed me Protonix for a stomach acid problem that prilosec otc made worse. He also diagnosed me with IBS and prescribed Librax for that. I take Protonix once a day every morning on a empty stomach and Librax 3 times a day. I am so amazed as to how much better I feel. I can eat literally anything I want now with no consequences. There are 2 things that still hurt me though. Alcohol and broccoli....weird.... but as long as I stay away from those 2 things I feel good. When I do rarely drink the pain doesn't last a week anymore. But it still hangs around for a couple days. So I rarely drink. The problem I was having with certain sitting situations in the stomach area was diagnosed by another doc as a torn muscle that healed wrong. I have actually been going to a chiropractor that works the scared tissue out with his hands. It really hurts but I feel a lot better after. I would have to say that I am 90% better than I was thank God!!! I hope these comments help you. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
