91 ford explorer overheats steam coming out of the exhaust why?

i have a 91 ford explorer i just changed out the thermostat and it is still overheating and there seams to be A lot of steam coming out of the exhaust. I have been told i got a blown head gasket. is there any other possible thing it could be
 
This sounds to me like a blown head gasket/cracked head. This is a serious problem, and your car needs to be taken to the shop for repair ASAP.

Otherwise, coolant's going to continue to leak into the engine, and eventually corrode essential components in your car's drivetrain, which will eventually lead to a dead car...
 
If you have steam coming out of the exhaust , but no coolant in the oil, which would make it look milky, then it could be the intake gasket and not the head gasket. If it's your head gasket your going to see coolant in your oil and on some of the spark plugs.
 
You do have a bad head gasket. You probably have water in the oil too. The oil will be a murky gray color if it is the head gasket.
