morning all! My 9 yr old daughter woke up at 3:30 this morning crawling in my bed complaining of right side pain and a tummy ache. I told her to go use the bathroom. she said she had just got out and it wasn't making the pain go away. she is pretty good about getting up and using the rest room and going back to her own bed. She flipped and flopped in my bed until we got up at 5. She is still complaining about it. the pain isn't where you would typically consider appendix pain. just a little higher. She wanted to eat, and ate 2 toaster strudels. What could be the problem, should i take her in?
not taking it wrong at all! im patiently waiting for thier office to open. It isnt 8:30 yet. and she is acting ok. she is eating, no fever, (actually playing a video game right now.) Im typically the parinoid parent because she has been so sick as a baby

call her doctor and tell them what's going on and see if they think you should come in or not. It could be a number of things. She may just have pulled a muscle playing or it may very well still be her appendix. I hope it's nothing serious!

To be safe, yes I would take her in. Check for a fever and if she has rebound tenderness in her right lower quadrant I would pretty much bet 2 diet cokes that it's appendicitis.

yes take her...appendicitis does not always just show by having pain in the appendix area...sometimes it is chest pain, even, especially in a child...mine was in the area of the liver.

Is she vomiting or feeling very much like she's going to? Running a fever? Appendicitis doesn't always hurt at the exact spot where it's located; we call that phenomenon referred pain. It could be ovarian (even if she's not ovulating yet) or intestinal. If it's causing that much discomfort and she's not getting relief; by all means, call the dr's office and have her looked at. That is what we pay them for after all.

She probably has to get her appendix taken out so I would take her to the doctor just to make sure. It won't always be in the excact place that is taken out from. Just like some people have headaches when they need glasses.

She still has appetite, good. It’s probably nothing but still, if the pain persists, a doctor should examine her to make sure she’s okay and also puts your mind at ease.
Maybe she ate something that she’s not used to eating or maybe she slept walk, bumped into some furniture, went back to bed with no memory of it.

yes take her in. is it the ride upper side of her abdomen? it could be a gallbladder problem. they can be extermly painful and if it's infected, dangerous. take her in to get checked out.

Please don't take this wrong, but why in the world are you coming online to this site asking other people about the health of your child?
You should have called her doctor first thing this morning and made an appointment.
