8n ford tractor converted over to 12 volts?

been converted over to 12 volts and had the resistor piece in the wiring to the coil. bought a new coil last year and mechanic said that this coil would do away with the resistor piece. today i can not tractor to fire, does this mean the coil is burned out or cold it the the ignition switch?
 
wel if it wil turn over and you get not spark good bet the coil bad or a broken wire might be able to check coil on another motor just hook up wires to it and see if you get a spark that way coul djust get another coil and try it as well
