My son has an 89 Jeep Wrangler that we just bought about a month ago. It has been leaking a little oil since we got it, but he has been keeping a good check on it. He replaced a gasket on the top of the engine (not sure what it is called but the part where the oil goes in) where he thought the leak was coming from and the next day, he opened the hood to check it and oil had sprayed all on the inside of the hood and everywhere. We have been told by someone, just a friend who has worked on cars some, that the oil pressure was low and that there was oil on one spark plug. He thinks we are going to have to put in a new engine. I don't know anything at all about cars. Does this sound right? Could it probably be something less MAJOR than this? Should we get another opinion or would I just be wasting my time and money? Don't want waste either but I certainly don't want to jump on the new motor bandwagon if we don't need to. If that is what is needed then we will just bite the bullet and go that direction. Thanks for any help you can offer.
