89 jeep cherokee brain?

i was told the "brain" of the jeep need to be replaced. what i wanna no is what is it really called..? its the metal thing under the driver side dash were all the wires connect too. what is this part called? thanks
i know what it does and mines doesnt tell the ignition modual to send spark so i need another one i wanna no what its called so i can find it looking up 89 jeep cherokee brain doesnt get me very far... thanks
 
its the computer that controls everything for the car
i call it a brain to people that dont under stand what it does
its the brain of your jeep
tells it when to fire when to pump fuel in..just about everything
