how do you read codes fr the check engine light on 89 FordProbe GT i dont have any computer scanner and nothin glike this. the car works perfectly i dunno why that light light s up every now and then. How do i read the codes? how do i reset it? instructions DIY? photos plese send to [email protected]. or a link thanks brothers

If the car runs good don't worry about it. It's a sensor you probably don't need. I have a 93 truck and half the sensors don't work.

Most Auto Zone parts stores will read the system, turn off the light and tell you the probable problem and causes, which could be many.
A temporary misfire due to fuel delivery, (injectors) spark plug, spark jump from a worn wire, and don't forget the gas cap being worn and not providing the proper seal.
To reset the light yourself, just remove the battery terminal for a few minute and the light will reset, then after driving a few miles the computer will reset itself.
You can also spend about $50.00 and buy your own code reader and the instructions and results are provided.
One note of caution, a code reader for that early of car will not read on the later models. Advance auto parts sell these code readers pretty cheap.

with out a scanner u cant do much....u can buy a code reader witch is much cheaper...at your local parts store...if u dont feel like foolin around ...go to autozone and they will read your codes for free..to reset codes unhook positive battery cable for 5 minutes this will reset the light....on that year we have found that 02 sensors will turn on light now and then...good luck
