I've been having problems with my escort for awhile now. If I don't let it idle for a couple minutes after starting it..it would die once i put it in gear. If I took a corner to fast, it would either die or slow down to the point of dying..then the RPM thing would shoot up and it would take off. Sunday night i was driving home and seemed to not have any problems, but as i was taking a corner the car started cutting in and out really bad, jerking back and forth and the RPM gage was doing the same..then it died, started back up..did the same thing and died, now it won't start.

I think it's the fuel pump, normally when I put it on accessory you can hear the fuel pump kick on (humming noise). It's not making that noise anymore. My car is trying to start..but it's not getting any fuel.
Already ordered a new pump..but could there be something else wrong with it?
also..it only seems to really mess up if i have less than a quarter tank of gas in my car. If it's above that then i don't really have any issues..except having to wait a couple minutes before leaving.

When the engine is running can you hear the pump whinning? This is normally a sign the pump is on its way out,a pump should have a constant hum to it,if it changes tone or the humming is irregular thats where your fault lies...Try not to let your fuel level get too low, you'll pick up all the crap from the bottom of the tank....not very good for the pump!
