Im looking for a device to be a sidekick to my xda exec So i do not need large memories or mp3 or amazing cameras or speed, wifi etc etc. I just need a device that looks good and turns head at the moment ill be bringing this as my main phone only and ill only bring my exec on some occasions such as overseas or meetings. Ive have no budget requirements. My requirements are

-beautiful
-easy to use
-hearable ringtones
-lots and lots of smses and calls (no emails)
-random snaps (both cameras sucks i know)
-RARE and UNIQUE
-BUILD QUALITY must be superb. I actually like heavy phones (thats why i onwed and xda exec . N95 build quality i absolutely hate and dont feel good) this is why n95 is out of my list
-Bright and nice screens and can display wallpapers nicely
-do not use speakerphone
-good voice quality
-battery at least last one day for calls and smses only ( i use 1 hour call and 30smses daily)

As i have no limited budget..Hmm just anything under 1200 USD will do (no vertu recommndations ) Here are my choices to choose from

-8600 luna
-lg prada
-8800 sirocco
-any other recommendations

Please advice me what whould i buy. thanks alot guys

I had the Prada for a bit, but for me I kind of found the touch screen to impractical and I needed a QWERTY til now, so i got my e61i and am now selling that cause i no longer need a QWERTY lol. I am thinking about buying the luna, I checked it out in store and I liked it, but I thought it might be a little small. Also, ive read that the prada has an asending ringtone so it is difficult to hear when the phone initially rings and by the time u hear it, it just might be too late (but perhaps someone who has had the phone longer than i did can verify this)

I am interested to hear other ppl's opinions as well. I am looking for a high-end phone as well but am not sure what else there is besides the luna and the 8800.

Based on your requirements, the 8600 is the only choice. The Prada has too many features you won't use and between the 8800se and the 8600, I'd go for the 8600 because it's newer, has better battery life and a better screen

8600. It's quad band, keypad is better than 8800, looks much nicer (although people say it looks feminine), and has an amazing screen.

I'm also interested in hearing reviews because I'm planning on buying a secondary phone as well to go with my HTC P3300. But that's my take.

Nokia knows how to do this "fashion phone" thing to turn heads, but in addition to that it also has the "unique" factor like you wouldn't believe. The average person will probably hear about the LG Prada and might even hear about it in the light of the misconception that it's some kind of "iPhone wannabe" even though it was introduced first, but the Luna is a phone that will be much more exclusive and will turn heads in a good way.

That's my 2 cents.

Thanks for the comments Now its just between the prada and luna for me. Both is good choices but the prada is a little bit too light and fragile while the luna...im a little scared of sudden price drops as some people mentioned in this forum. Im one of the first buyers of the v3 looks what happens now to the v3.

So anyone thinks that the luna will have sudden price drops to 200-300 and then everyone will have it..

nahh the luna isn't gona drop a lot.. probably like.. 50 bucks at the most?
probably gona be like the 8800 and not drop
but if you get the prada it automatically drops $200 XD

i've read this comparison review of the luna and prada.
and it showed that the prada was better in all aspects except for the mp3 playing.
i would also pick the prada over the luna for its..
- easy to use UI
- touch screen
- better screen resolution
- AUTO FOCUS camera
- expandable memory
- A LOT more applications

but since you kinda want a heavier phone.. it's your call

It has the worst ergonomics I've ever come across. I dont recommend shine, unless it'll actually be used as a mirror, to attract other girls that is.

Dude, there's nothing wrong with getting an expensive phone that looks good, it's all about personal choice man.

both the luna and the prada are hot phones. I'd probably get the luna over the prada though because of the quadband. The only thing that sucks about both the luna and the sirocco is the lack of a card slot, but I guess the point is moot since it's not a major requirement.

If you want unique and rare (but not ridiculously priced like the vertu) you may want to check out the Gresso phones. Actually I'm not sure how much they cost, but they have unique offerings such as a phone made out of African blackwood, which makes battery fires so much more swanky.

Suggesting a Porsche as an alternative is ludicrous, unless of course you have the income to afford one, then it would be pretty f'n money...

There's nothing wrong with wanting an awesome looking phone, but from my point of view, it seems like he's more concerned with making people jealous and awed than having a good phone. I'm not really calling him out on it, but that's just what I see from where I'm sitting. Of course, if that's the OPs goal in entirety, that's a bit pathetic IMO, but that's life. Form is good and all, but if there's no function you have an expensive, good looking paperweight.

I dunno man, the S500 you are planning to get is a pretty sweet looking phone in it's own right. Granted it's a bit more functional and not as pricey as the high-end style phones mentioned above, but unlocked phones in general costs more than most phones that you can get with a new or renewed contract, and the S500 is cool looking and unique enough that it would get attention from those who are into cellphones.

Personally speaking, I got the 8801 because it looked hot. The build quality, the heft of the stainless steel body, the precision sliding mechanism and the satisfying click it makes when the slider snaps into position, it all got me hooked from the moment I saw it and held it in my hand, and when I finally had it, it turned quite a few heads. Everything about that phone just screamed quality.

Of course I don't use it quite as often because it gave way to the superior camera and music player of the K800i and later the iPhone, but in many ways it's still a great looking, great feeling phone. If only it had a memory slot and a better battery life, I'd probably be using it way more often.

Bottom line is that I don't think it's pathetic at all, getting a "showpiece" phone. He could spend his money on more gaudy things like a diamond studded Rolex, or a thick gold chain, but instead he's doing what most of us HoFo members do and that's get yet another sexy phone. =p

Okok, i apologise if i appeared snobbish and sounds like a spoilt rich kid But first let me explain why i want a unique and high end phone instead of a feature phone. LEts say that i do not use the feature of a phone much, i have a pda and laptop for that. However, i want a phone to satisfy my evil side and screams quality and uniqueness and beauty. But why??? Its because i used to own quite a few phones before their prices drop drastically (eg. the v3 etc etc) For just using it as a phone and feel good about it, i desire something that i know would last long without feeling outdated, i thought the luna or prada will give me this pridvelage of not having to change my phone for a long time. I used to change my phone alot of times, this is not because i have a lot of money or spare cash, but this is my interest, mobile phones!! I hope changing to something not many people have will satisfy my crave for new mobiles. i thought of the vertu, but no cash :P
