8525 (Used 30% - Features) iPhone (Using 90% - Features)

The 8525 has so many features, but I didn't really use them. I used maybe 25-30% of the features. On the iPhone, I am using 90% of the features. That is because the UI looks sooooooo cool looking and is soooooooo easy to use. Also I don't have to pull out a stylus, scroll the wheel or slide the keyboard out like the 8525. I downloaded Window Mobile 6 to the 8525 in hopes that it would be better, WM6 is defiinitely better than WM5, but the iPhone is just too awesome for me. I like just whipping out the phone and typing with one hand or two quickly. I also surf the internet more so than I did on my previous device. Even though edge isn't like 3G, it is faster than it use to be. In my area 3G is all over but spotty and Edge is higher for data than before. Wifi is also available at quite a few spots.

Does anyone feel the same or different? Are you using more of the features on the iPhone than on your previous device?
 
I've never had anything like a Smartphone but I too use 90% of the functionality on the iPhone. I use the web browser on the iPhone more than anything else (with the exception of playing music). It is just so quick and easy to do anything. A $20 unlimited data plan is about as good as it can get.

I can't wait for 3rd party apps. to fill in the functionality gaps.
 
Im with you, even though I just got my Iphone yesterday lol... Im still working on texting a bit faster since I cant text in landscape mode (which I feel would be much easier to text)
 
I agree with this and I think it is because the main functions are all on the main page. I am writing this with my iPhone which is much easier than with any other phone I have used before.
 
Yes, and that's probably why Jobs didn't want any third party apps

And why the start page doesn't scroll with more than 16 apps.

Once you get a few dozen programs on there, suddenly you have to start organizing them into groups. Ditto with files if you're allowed to save those. And if they have more options, those get harder to find as well. Add more gestures (like copy&paste) and features (tethering, etc) and the learning curve goes up as well.

Therefore, to remain as usable as it is today, the iPhone might have to remain simple.

The trouble is, the longer you own it, the more you're considered a "power user" who's going to want more options. Perhaps what Apple needs are two models... the light weight non-expandable intro like today... and the power user model of the future.
 
Being "simple" is not a bad thing. I have had some smartphones that were loaded with functions...but no fun at all to use.

Fun is a very good thing...
 
Good point. But it's not necessarily about the advanced features of Windows Mobile or Palm but it was about using the stylus clicking, tiny keyboard and too many clicks to find something was annoy. Where as the iphone is straight to the point, do it and your done FAST!!!. Don't have to put the stylus away, just use your finger or thumbs and that's it. And it looks good during the process.
No phone is even close to graphics as the iPhone.
 
i had the 8125, almost exactly like the iphone in features but id take the iphone any day. hardly any lag, loads webpages faster, had to get use to the no style. wm5 sucks balls. but yeah, i made a good choice with my iphone. i just hate idiots who see me using the iphone say "the iphone sucks" under their breath. i used to think it that until i got one.
 
Agreed. I didn't like the fact that I had to tweak so many of the features on my Blackjack to make it usable. The iPhone just sucked me in right out of the box.
 
I agree 100% but I think that simpicity is a huge seller. I don't think that there is any other phone on the market with such a wide customer base. I was at King of Prussia Mall (in PA) and I saw a girl who was maybe 15 with one and a few minutes later, I saw a man who was maybe 50 with one. I'm 25 and I have one. So I guess that goes to show, maybe the simplicity expands the user base.
 
i agree entirely, it was those other features on my other phones that made them so frustrating to use! And 3rd party apps aren't always good either, for example on my dash there is a certain sd.dll that gets corrupted by some programs that causes the dash to go into a reboot loop, the only fix is to remove the memory card to get it to start, now as much as I like the dash and its form factor, yes I do still use it, it is a pain in the *** having to remove the battery to remove the sd card considering how often wm6 needs to be reset, not a problem I see with the iPhone. I just hope apple fixes the current bugs, like the crashing iPod, before they introduce new features with new bugs!
 
on my 8125 this is what I used

internet (edge on 8125 too) - iphone has it
text - iphone has it
phone - duh
calculator - iphone has it
chat - iphone has no chat support

thats pretty much it.... I might also add my 8125 is almighty slow with WM6.
