850mhz overrated???

Does anyone have the n93 in the US??? More specifically, does anyone have the n93 with tmobile? I know cingular relies heavily on the 850 bandwidth, but does tmobile? Im in NorCal. Any advice? Who would wait for the n95 instead of getting the n93 right now? I REALLY dont want to wait more than 2 more months for it.
 
well I cant exacty answer for the owning a N93 part, but I have heard it is a EXCELLENT phone, but most people say they would of rather waited for the N95. But if your OK with selling it and loosing money, just buy the N93 now, instead of later, and get the N95 later on down,

As for the 850mhz part. T-mobile doesnt use it, except when roaming. You would be JUST fine without the 850mhz band. I wish Cingular was like that...
 
But then what if the main coverage sucks with Tmo, and I didnt even realize (is it possible to not know) Im in roaming status most of the time? Basically, what if it roams to 850 like the majority of the time!? And people who are waiting may be waiting until like summer next year I heard
 
I have the n93 with cingular. The only place I loose the signal due to 850 Mhz is in my house. Everywhere else it works great. I love the phone but I still cant wait for the n95!! I'd wait if I were you.

I have that problem as well when I'm on the house.. I loose signal due to lack of 850..

Hey I live in NYC.. When I'm outside.. I have full bar all the time..

Will buy the N95 too when it comes out!!
 
Exactly!!! The title of this post is a bit silly....its like asking:

Is the Metric System overrated?

Are paying taxes overrated?

I know in the d.c. Metro area that using non 850s is a nightmare almost anywhere indoors. Outdoors its so so but still has its issues. However, tmob sucks pretty much everywhere in the d.c. Market...i had them for years and finally had to give up!
 
850 is hardly a fact of life in the US on tmobile. It all depends on where you are. I'm in Southern California and make frequent trips up to the bay area and haven't had any coverage problems without 850.
 
I'm in SoCal on Cingular with N93 and have never had a coverage issue. I'm sure 850 would give me coverage in rural areas, but lets hope I never have to go there

let me add my personal experience!! i had the n93 for exactly 2 days!! i , too, am in norcal...specifically, just north of san francisco. i found that the lack of 850 was causing me to loose the cingular signal in about 1/2 of my normal coverage!! enough said!! 850 is definitely needed HERE!! i wish this were not the case, cause i really liked the phone. now i'm using a n73.. and i might add Finland made! i am running the current firmware.. anyone interested.. let me know!!
 
The 850 is good for long distances and through structures, this is why it improves signal in rural areas and inside buildings. I know that in my apartment I never got reception on my t-mobile tri-band MDA but would always have reception on my Cingular quad band phone. If you are not worried about that then go with the tri-band, I just know that i would not buy a tri-band phone because I don?t get reception in my apartment.
 
That's a bit backwards. 850 is good for penetrating structures because it's a lower frequency, but doesn't travel as far as 1900 because it's so low, so more of the 850 towers need to be set up in an 850 network. 1900 travels farther, so you a network doesn't need as many of them in an area, but it doesn't penetrate buildings nearly as well.
