848 Resale Value

Part of the issue has to be that there are still some dealers who are selling brand new 08 848s. Not to mention that you can buy an 09 848 for about $13,000. PArt of it is that you overpaid in the beginning and are basing the devaluation on an overinflated basis point of $16,000.00. Sorry man.

the good news is that it should be worth at least $10,000.00 in 2012. Good Luck.

I definitely overpaid but I'm in So Cal and bought it in July. I've seen dealers really go down in price especially in the east coast where bikes are really not moving. Are you being serious about the bike being worth around $10,000 by 2012? Are dealers also selling 09 848 for $13,000 out the door?

I can say in So Cal that is not the case for 09 848's. They're floating around $15000 OTD. But regardless of how you put it, you are looking at the most base model of the superbikes, the economic condition isn't great, and any vehicle's first year depreciation is extremely high. As I mentioned earlier in the thread that the 748's, 996's, and 998's are high in value probably due to its heritage being tied to the 916. I would expect the value of the 848 to level off a little after the 1st year...

Your methodology is completely WRONG! You need to look at the resale value of other bikes in its class (all those jap 600's) that you could have got instead, to really make a claim on resale depreciation. If you do that then you will see that the bike holds its value very well . A 2008 R6 on dallas craigslist just sold for $6100 dollars (i was trying to buy it, but alas to late) thats probably half of what that guy paid out the door after taxes etc. Added on to that, all those bikes will continue to loose value unitl you can pick them up for a song (2000 R6 can be got for $2000 if you try) where as yours probably will never go under the $7000 mark.

Not enough time has passed to make any accurate claims as to if this model/style/engine will be judged to be a classic and hold value like the 996's. So untill then, relax enjoy your movable work of art..its a sexy bitch and it will be for a long time!

So you are a latte posuer then huh? Have you ridden your bike yet?

Quit while you're ahead, you're just digging a bigger hole for yourself.

Don't worry about me. I'm the site tool. I rant occasionally to humour myself.

Point is clear and simple.

There is no resale value in any new bike that you wheel off the show room floor unless you keep it with low kms for 20 years, or buy a Bayliss or a DR16 or something. Euro or jap. It's all the same these days.

Shut up and ride your bike some more.

the first year is the worst, mainly because you eat the tax, license, freight and setup fees that don't even count as value on the bike. So the first year its gonna depreciate + like 1500-2000$ for the above.

Wow buddy...

You really are an idiot aren't ya. Starting to find out what you are all about very quickly with your useless posts of late. The site tool alright...

Why don't you try posting something useful...I certainly haven't seen anything yet.

Unbelievable...
