848 Resale Value

I'm a bit disappointed in the resale value for the 848's and 1098's. One of the reasons why I bought a Brand New Ducati was it's great resale values on the previous 748, 916, 996 and 998 models (I thought wrong). I bought my 848 new back in July for $16,500 out the door with the extended warranty and I'll be lucky to get $11,000 for it now. I noticed that a good condition 748 will go for about $6,000 and a 996 will sell for maybe $7.000-$8,000. How can a Ducati that's 8 plus years older only be $3,000 difference from a 2008 model. Is it because these new models are not considered to be Legends like the previous models???

A lot of the resale value right now has to do with the economy. These bikes will hold their value long term much more so than a japanese bike. Also, a lot of depreciation takes place in the first year... It is not a good time to sell these right now for obvious reasons..

your proving Enzo's point with the market value comment. Most people who are selling their one year old bike are not doing it because they want the money they are doing it because the NEED the money so they are willing to take bottom line even if it is a lot less than they wanted. So yes a bad economy does have to do with resell values

resale???? Awwwww booooo hooooo.

Well why did you buy a bike in the first place??? For resale value???

I suspect not. To ride maybe??? Or just to look cool whislt supping your latte perhaps???

Stop sooking and get out there, shut up, and just ride the farkin thing!!!

My 07 1098 cost me AUD$33K on road. I've done 12,000kms on it, since may 07, and I'd get sod all if I sold the thing now. But did I buy it for it's reasle value? NO!!! I bought it becasue it was the finest example of Ducati superbike that I could afford at the time, and to farkin ride.

Ride it for the next 20 years, and then see what your resale is.

Resale - fark me. Sorry, am I on the Wall St Ducati Spot?? Better not farkin well be. Look what Wall St would have done for my farkin resale. That's it!!! It's all Wall St's fault that your farkin resale has hit the shit shoot. Go whine on a Wall St forum about your resale, while the rest of us get on with riding our Ducatis, and lovin it!!!

Gold, pure gold.....

love your work Soz. (for a minute there I thought I logged onto www.tightwads.com....!!)

No, I didn't bike a bike for resale value but it was ONE of the main reason why I chose a Ducati and didn't mind paying premium. I really didn't understand half of what you posted except to ride it. I just wanted people's feedback on why the 748,916,996 and 998 held better resale value than our 848/1098 models. I would appreciate Positive feedbacks!
