I haven't seen any of this years films. But watching clips i really want to see No Country For Old Men and Juno. Because of that i can't really guess who will win what.

Some of the noms I do not agree with: Michael Clayton (which got very average reviews) gets a BP nom over Sweeney Todd for example. What is it with the Academy's love-in with George Clooney?

The only actor nom for Atonement was for the young girl! I agree with this. No way did Knightley deserve one and McAvoy's performance was good, but not great IMO.

Very happy about Johnny Depp but I think it's obvious who is going to win in that category...

I think the Edith Piaf woman will take Best Actress (they do love giving them to people who portray real people, don't they?)

BP is more difficult to call but Atonement seems to have a lot of momentum. But I can see a surprise here. Maybe No Country For Old Men, or even Juno (although that was beaten in its category at the Golden Globes).

KK was great in atonement i thought - its a shame they have ignored her. ditto amy adams in enchanted.

la vie en rose is a rubbish film, m clayton is very average (though tilda swinton was fantastic in it), and as for c blanchet in elizabeth...

DDL will get best actor, there's no competition there!
Also glad Kiera didn't get a best actor nom, she was good but unremarkable. I rate James McAvoy quite highly, think he's truly talented.

Think no country for men will get best picture, though it's a distinctly poor selection. Been a bad year all round. Worst year ever? The best picture list makes for depressing reading!

Really don't care about any of them, especially Best Picture...none interest me, doubt I'll go see them.

I'm going to see Elizabeth: The Golden Age tonight, and I hope Cate wins that one, she was fabulous in the first one and will no doubt be amazing in this one! :)

This is my acting choices:
Johnny Depp-Sweeney Todd
Laura Linney-The Savages
Cate Blanchette- I,m Not There
Javier Bardem-No Country For Old Men
My choice for best picture : Juno, its small and might suprise everybody, remember Crash nobody expected to win,do you agree ?

Here's the full list (i think) from AICN:

Thank God that Transformers got a nod for best effects! I think that the people that chose the BAFTAS must have been blind to miss that one, particularly considering they nominated The Bourne Ultimatum which had no effects in it at all to the best of my knowledge...

Hopefully The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford will get the cinematography Oscar, it looked stunning.

No 'Best Picture' nomination for The Assassination of Jesse James? I thought the critics enjoyed that film?

Looks like Daniel Day Lewis will win a second oscar.

I suppose, but i was under the impression that most of the stunts were real, and not CGI.

EDIT: And yet 'The Golden Compass' gets nommed for Best Effects?!?! What the hell?! The effects were stupidly unconvincing, particularly on the Daemons.

Shhhhh!:p

Yay for Enchanted getting three Best Song noms...I just adore That's How You Know! :D I hope that one wins!

Ooooh and Transformers! :D

Best Sound Editing

Best Sound Mixing

Best Visual Effects

I hope it takes at least one, Visual Effects it's gottabe! ;)

I'd have nominated it for best picture to be honest! lol. Even though it was completely brainless, i still enjoyed it more than any of the Official BP nominated films. But i hope that 'No Country For Old Men' gets the Oscar out of the choice on offer.

Oh dear. Looks like it's another 'so-so' year at the Academy AwarRAB :( At least Ellen Page got a nomination for 'Juno' - she's a great young actress and, although the film wasn't excellent, she was great at playing the eponymous role.

I think both James Mcavoy&Keira Knightly should have been nominated for Actor/Actress,plus Naomi Watts for Eastern Promises. Javier Bardem deserves Supporting Actor by a long chalk, but No Country For Old Men backfired spectacularly in my opinion and overall it would be between Atonement and Eastern Promises, but EP wasn't even nominated!

The films in the Oscar selection always seem quite serious, they are not many nominations for comedy or childrens films (unless their animated). Two of my favourite films of the year are Hairspray and Stardust but they don't have a chance at the big Oscars. its a shame really.

I'm glad juno got 3 nominations! It had the potential to be a rather crappy film, but it was very well made and executed brilliantly by the cast .
