8 Out Of 10 Cats - Series 10 (merged)

Just reading up on the new series and see that the two specials (World Cup & BB) are part of series 10 and so lat leaves only five regular episodes in the series (according to Wikipedia).

I've also noticed that they have now increased to 55 minutes. I know they did that for the specials.
They started off at 30 mins, then went to 35 mins. Was the last series 55 mins?

I wonder if it's because of schedule conflicts. Now that Manford is supposed to be on Mon-Thurs with The One Show has Cats had to change to suit his schedule? Less shows in a longer format?
Note that he wasn't on tonights One Show.

Anyway, the new series
17 September 2010 Jamelia and Jack Dee Jack Whitehall and Christian Jessen

Let's hope Jamelia just sits there looking good and keeps her trap shut!

No such luck. She was as useless and as pointless as always. How does she get back on these programs?

The only thing I can think off is that the comedians wait for she to say something stupid so they can build on it.

There was some edgy stuff in the show. Whilehall forced his prostitute jokes out so it just came across as more shock value than funny. Frankie Boyle and even Clarkson have told funnier jokes on the subject.

Dee was the most shocking though. Even though it was a ture point. It's human nature :)

I was only half watching this, what joke was said in the second half by the comedian on Mansford's team just before he covered his face and Mansford didn't smile, let alone laugh?

I know that it says that there are only 5 episodes this series, according to Radiotimes, but have you noticed that this week's episode with Jack Dee was noted as Episode 4 on the official site (after the World Cup and Big Brother specials). and on SROAudiences they have put up that they are taping 6 episodes. Last Thursday, they taped Friday's episode and a "Scary special" with Tim Minchin amongst the guests and then there are two more episodes being filmed next Thursday and the week after that.

I am guessing that we are getting three topical episodes as well as three specials but when will that 6th episode air. I don't think it would be a Christmas special as there has never been one for "8 out of 10 cats"!

It moved to the longer format halfway through the last series. I don't think the extra content justifies the longer format but it just fills the schedule up more at very little extra expense, and if they record 2-3hrs, it'll be easier to condense it to 36 mins (excluding aRAB) than around 24 mins as it was before.

I find myself drifting when watching this show now as it's very tired. I'll listen to Sean Lock and Jimmy Carr, then ignore the rest unless they have a decent guest. This week Jack Dee was good as was some of Jack Whiteall's stuff, but I don't care for Jamelia ever, and Jessen was just there to subconsciously promote his Embarrassing Bodies show.

I thought it was something to do with Manford as he's supposed to be on The One Show for 4 nights a week and now is taking a night off for 8-10 Cats. I guess it was in the contract discussions as if it wasn't I wouldn't be happy if I was involved.

I just took the episode info from wikipedia. I'm really not sure what is going on with the series, the specials or the recordings.
samusek2 seems to have more info

This show has been killed by extending it's running length and the frequent "specials" that are anything but.

"Celebrity Juice" on ITV2 also went to a longer format but it seems to work for them.

This

They're diluting the show by extending it and the 'specials' kill the point of the show, which is to be a weekly look at the news.

Jimmy managed the trick of being contrived, predictable and vile all at once last week. Talk about scraping the barrel. Was he always this bad?

I kind of agree. I thought the first epsiode in the series was good and I enjoyed it's longer running time, but the second epsiode was REALLY weak and I thought it contained lots of padding which shouldn't have made it to the final edit.

Watched last night and it was the funniest ever.

I had got into not watching it because of the lack lustre guests but last night's were fab.

Loved the banter between Sarah and Jimmy, Johnny Vaughan was excellent and my heart throb Jon RicharRABon was funny and gorgeous.

Fantastic show last night. All of them were on top form. Liked the womans remark when Jimmy said it was hard to dance with an erection. She quipped, 'dont talk to Louis Spence like that'...magic. He is a big one!!
