As most know I have severe LPR and for 10 yrs I would be so hoarse you couldn't understand me or lose my voice completely. Think one of the reasons was that I would cough till I was hoarse! I can't say the name of the product I began (we all know the rules) but I swear that's what helped so many of my throat problems. I recently had a kidney infection and ran out of juice while staying home and have't gone to health food store yet. I have been having awful LPR symptoms since Monday. Sinus draining into my throat, constant cough after eating or drinking anything including water. Well, this morn when I woke up not only did I have the normal "have to eat soda crackers" to get up, but I felt like my throat was closing up and I could not breath! So much mucus I was gagging out white frothy stuff AND I could not talk! Same old feelings before I began the juice. I certainly can't say it has cured me but after being hoarse or no voice at all for 10 yrs it was a miracle cure to me. I haven't had any asthma symptoms until today. Also,. The lump had been gone for a long time. It's plum scary when you can't get a deep breath and you feel your throat swelling shut. Every time I try to cough out that crap it burns my throat sooo bad that I'm miserable today. So worn out from this! You can bet I'm headed to the health food store today!

Thanks for sharing, Charla. Sorry to hear the hoarseness and other symtoms are back.

You know, while the juice and other similar products could be doing those who take them a lot of good, we program ourselves to believe that they indeed ARE. Some benefits are just too obvious and indisputable, such as the resolution of some of the symptoms and the resulting systemic relief. I think the power of mind plays a huge role in how we feel. That is why placebos are always used in clinical trials and studies. The participants in blind studies (even those taking a placebo) experience true and notable side effects of the medication (or placebo), as well as symptomatic relief. Our mind and attitude influences how we feel at any given time to a great degree.

Given identical symptoms at different times and in varied circumstances, the symptoms become more tolerable when we are feeling happy and positive, thus appearing to be less severe. When we are stressed out, even as a result of unrelated issues, the same symptoms really get to us and seem absolutely horrible. This is my personal observation. Admittedly, I am like that. My tolerance levels fluctuate and increase when in a good mood. I hope I am making sense.

In any case, I am glad this juice seems to be working for you. Another thought: what if your symptoms are ALWAYS there in the background, never really going away, but a lot less noticable, because your senses have been dulled by either medication, juice, or whatever?

I do think there are natural, heck unnatural products that will help. Who knows. I try the Mind over Body thing sooo much because that makes sense and proven. I just can't get my body to listen to my mind. The juice is ussed for inflammation so that would make sence in helping my throat not to swell and my vocal corRAB. Grant you, I'm not well at all. Really bad day today. I picked up my Nexium today and I don't think it's doing me much good. Sometimes worse it seems.

It's all so confusing, new to us and a lot of Dr's. We've got to keep plugging alone till we find some kind of answer. In the mean time, I do so appreciate yours and everyone eles frienRABhip and just the fact that you may know how I'm feeling. Take care, my friend.

Char, :)

in my opinion, you are a trooper!!! You have been through so much and there you are, still going strong and helping others by sharing your experiences. I have learned a lot from you. If the juice makes you feel better, buy it by the gallon. I heard that a juice from a succulent plant with spikey green serrated leaves soothes the esophagus, probably as much as other products. Its juice is used for treating burns. I wonder if you might have used it in the past. You probably have. I haven't tried it myself yet, because I am afraid of any possible interactions with my meRAB. I have just had a couple of new meRAB added and have to be super careful.
I really wish I could help somehow and ease your suffering. At least you know you are not alone. My voice is hoarse almost 99% of the time. I sound like either a heavy smoker, a drunk, or a frog. Take your pick. Probably a corabination of all of the above. :D :D

Thanks Flowergirl!

Funny you mentioned your voice because every time I would see yet another new Dr., they always thought I smoked. Then they asked was I a professionall singer. I kept telling them that I never smoked a day in my life and couldn't sing a note! I used to answer the phone and they would ask for my daddy and now they think I am the daddy!
Most people say, "Oh, you have allergies too" or "Are you sick." They don't have a clue as to what is happening to us and it's hard to make people understand all this. My voice is better today but that's about all. Hope you are having a good day!

Thanks but I'm just like everyone else. Trying to get well and stay well! Together we have a better chance of figuring out what the %$# is wrong and how to fix it. I've considered surgery many times and in fact have seen several surgeons. The thing is that I've read (and my Dr. agrees) that the fundo doesn't give as much relief for LPR suffers. Also, to tell you the truth, I'm afraid that it's not even LPR but something else! I know I have reflux (GERD) but it seems to be better controled with meRAB while nothing has helped my LPR symptoms. I do seem to just be better some days than others. I've had all the test and they don't show that much acid but the Dr. said it's not the amount but where it goes. One reason this board is so good is that I've learned there's many more symptoms than the usual and that not one has every one of them. The only thing is that it makes it more confusing as to what is what. If that makes sense:) All of the ENT spec I've been to (and there's been many, believe me) say it's LPR. But, my scopes don't look bad lately, which that I think makes my Dr's not encourage the surgery. I am in fact, making an appt with a surgeon in Houston soon. I have LPR symtoms daily no matter how good a day I've had and I hate to think of living the rest of my life like this and worry about it getting worse.

So, we'll all keep going day-by-day and being here for each other!
