780p HD tv and video games...?

okay so i got a 780p LCD tv and when it switched to HDMI it was 780p and 1080i, should i keep it at that or change it to 780p? when i played Modern Warfare 2 i found it harder to play and it just didn't feel right (first HD tv) but i don't know if it's 'cause it's set at 780p and 1080i
