I have a 77 with a 350. I recently replaced my dist. cap and rotor. Whenever the motor is cold it will start up no problem but when i turn it off and try to start it again it wont catch. Fuel is fine and so are my lines, timing is correct same with firing order.

. look for black smoke.when it will start. black smoke reset the chock. the first thing i would do is pull the module out of the dist. and have it tested at the parts house for free. this is #1 cause for what you are talking about in the time frame of the 70"s with the HEI dist.
