75mg aspirin?

I have been taking 75mg aspirin daily for about 10 years, but a recent report suggests that unless you have had heart/ circulatory problems, the risks -
( internal bleeding) outweigh the benefits.
I am male, 67yrs, slightly diabetic type 2. Should I stop taking the aspirin?
Have not spoken to my doc yet.

Have you considered that the reason you are so healthy at 67 is that you've been taking aspirin for the past 10 years? Aspirin is not just for circulatory problems. Lowers the risk for stroke too and has been implicated in preventing colon cancer. The tiny amount you are taking is the equivalent of a single baby aspirin and I doubt would harm you unless you had stomach ulcers. And then you can take the enteric coated type that dissolves in your small intestine.

I've read that if aspirin was discovered today it would be a prescription drug as it can do so much for so many illnesses and the pharmacy industry would be milking all of us for it. So be happy it's available and so cheap. I take mine everyday and so does my husband. Our doc thinks every one over 50 should be on that tiny dose everyday to prevent a lot of nasty stuff from happening.

And I can confirm how well aspirin works. I had a stroke beginning this past January and took 2 full strength aspirins before heading to the ER. Stroke resolved by itself within 3 hours and the doc said it was the aspirin dissolving the clot.

Good stuff.

I am 48 years old, and have been taking 81 mg aspirin per day, following strokes. Last week my doctor reduced my aspirin intake to every other day, to reduce bruising. It immediately resolved the bruising, and life is good.

I wish you the best.
