'74 130 Chrysler outboard speed problem?

I have a '74 130 Chrysler outboard, and I ran into a problem this past summer. I was in shallow water and I hit a few rocks, and hit the ground a couple times, but it didn't seem like a big deal. The next morning I took it out, tried to punch it, and it only got to about 5 mph and then seemed like it shifted into neutral. I tried again and got the same result.

Is this a problem with the lower unit from hitting the rocks/ground?
Can i fix this problem myself?

You just might have sheared a pin, or the prop nut needs tightening.. especially if this motor has the rubber friction washer on the prop.
Try turning it by hand with the unit in gear to see if anything is binding or loose.
