6800 backlight issue

im having a problem with my backlight on my 6800 i did a soft reset and the backlight flicked on then off then never came back on the phone is on because i can see the screen but the backlight won't come on so i cant see a thing

can someone help me please

press and hold the pwr button until the screen light comes back on

i have done that with no change i get the key pad light not the screen back light
